The couple then had three children of their own, two boys and a girl. Redmon Fauset was a widower with seven children when he married Bella Huff, who already had three children from her previous marriage. His parents were Redmon and Bella Huff Fauset. He had a long career as a school principal in Philadelphia, during which time he fought for better working conditions for teachers, as well as for civil rights for blacks and other disadvantaged people.Īrthur Huff Fauset was born on January 20, 1899, in Flemington, New Jersey. He also wrote books and articles in the areas of folklore and history. As a young man, he won prizes in the Urban League's Opportunity contests.
